The Pr. S. John Jeya Kumar hails from a good, modest and traditional Christian family. He was born on 4th April 1972 in a simple Christian family to the humble parents (Late) Mr. S. Samuel and Mrs. Kamalam in the town of Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, the southern most tip of India. He had the privilege of being a student at the tertiary level in the Scott Christian College, Nagercoil, the great Christian institution founded by the missionaries. After taking a Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc) in Chemistry stream, he started working in the Christian Social Welfare Centre during the period 1992 to 1993 at Chennai. It was in the year 1993 May that he had an encounter with the Lord through the motivation of his mother’s elder sister named Sis. Rosammal, a Spinster, who had been serving the Lord for more than the past 3 decades and a half. And this made him resign his job and completely surrender himself to the precious call of the Lord with implicit obedience. He then went to Good News Mission Bible College which is located in Tirunelveli, TamilNadu in order to be trained biblically for the mighty ministry of the Almighty. It is very significant to note that while being a student, he enthusiastically got involved in leading the service and preaching the word of God, in the preaching point comprising 30 members altogether which is situated in Puthukudy, Nagercoil and latter called “El-Shaddai Worship Centre” founded by Sis. Rosammal in the year 1975. He graduated in Theology (B.Th) from the above mentioned college in 1996 March and since May 1996 he has been shepherding the flock, gathering in the holy sanctuary, Puthukudy in different capacities as Christian Worker, Licensed Minister and Pastor.
After his arrival, the church started growing very rapidly and as of now, the status of enrolment is more than 700 members. Moreover, there are 15 branch churches under him in the remote places in Kanyakumari district with 15 pastors who were trained by him. He has been striving to plant more than 85 churches in the state of TamilNadu before the advent of 2025 so that his dream of planting 100 churches by 2025 will be richly fulfilled in the Lord. It is trustworthy to say that Pr. S. John Jeya Kumar is blessed with various sorts of God-given-gifts such as singing, preaching, prophesying, and healing and so on. And the Lord has not only been using him very powerfully and skillfully for the benefit and the well-being of his own congregation, but also for the people who are in different parts of India as well as abroad, particularly the people of other faiths. He has got the far reaching vision about North India which is still considered as backward in knowing and tasting the real love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Quite often he has been journeying to the northern states known as the “Graveyard of Missionaries” in India like Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Bihar in order that the pastors, the missionaries and the youth are to be strengthened, motivated and encouraged to involve themselves fully in the ministerial ground very piously and challengingly, so that they will be rewarded very highly in the heaven. He has got the strong hope in the Lord that the current support to the 20 North Indian Missionaries rendered by his church will reach 100 before entering 2025. Besides, he has been travelling frequently to foreign countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Nepal as an invitee for propagating the Christian scriptures.
Apart from evangelism and church planting, he has a great interest in organizing and conducting seminars for the pastors and camps for the youth and these happen mainly in the places where the work of the missionaries is heavily needed. On the whole, the ministry done by him is a holistic ministry which our Lord Jesus Christ performed during His earthly life. It is praiseworthy to note that despite being a prominent evangelist as well as the chief pastor of the growing churches, if the need of evangelism arises anywhere even now, he alone is the first person, as he was in the earlier days too, to accomplish it instead of commanding his employees to do so. Above all, he never declares himself the head of the El-Shaddai churches, rather he reveals himself as one of the pastors of the same and first among the equals. Consequently, the servant leadership of Pr. S. John Jeya Kumar is precisely proved.
Pr. S. John Jeya Kumar has been united with L. Joylet Nisha, a woman of noble qualities on 16 January 2002 and blessed with two children namely Jafita Janis and Jachin Samuel.
